The Ettin are a boisterous race of humans from the far north. These lively people are marked by fair colouration and enormous stature – Ettin men under 6 feet are considered short, and their women are taller than most men of other races. According to legend they are descended from giants.
Although blood ties are considered very important in Ettin culture, descent does not dictate social status. Rather, status is based on merit and the respect of one’s peers. The Ettin also seem to be accepting of women in roles the people of, say, Lancomb Valley might think stereotypically male. For example, female Ettin warriors are a common sight. Gender discrimination strikes most Ettin as quaint and foolish.
Most Ettin interaction with the outside world is through trade or raiding.
